2024 Yamaha MT-09: Beastly Update or Same Old Thrill Ride?

The Yamaha MT-09 has always been a mean, capable naked bike competing at the top of the naked class. It hard to improve on something so good, but that is exactly what Yamaha has done. Check out the video review by Pete Vorst after taking a MT-09 for a ride.

"I just got a chance to check out the new Yamaha MT-09 2024 with TeamMoto Motorcycles, and let me tell you, this bike is seriously exciting!

Yamaha tweaked the engine a bit, and it feels great. They also improved the gearbox for smoother shifting, and even threw in a new third-generation quick shifter for good measure.

One of the biggest changes is the new 5-inch TFT dash. It looks super sharp and connects to your phone via Bluetooth. The bodywork got a makeover too, with a new aggressive headlight and a riding position that puts you more in control. I liked how the seat puts more weight on my wrists, it feels really planted.

Speaking of aggressive, the new grills on the bodywork really let that engine roar! You can definitely hear the difference. They also stiffened the frame around the headstock and engine mounts, and the suspension is fully adjustable, so handling feels nice and dialed in.

The switchbox got an upgrade too, which is a plus. It's way easier to use with gloves on now. They even added three ride modes and cruise control for some added comfort.

Now, there are a couple of things I wasn't crazy about. The new indicator switch is a rocker style, which isn't my favorite, and the bike still uses rubber brake lines. Those could be upgraded for better performance.

But overall, this is an amazing machine! It's easily one of the best bang-for-your-buck road bikes out there. If you're looking for a thrilling ride with tons of upgrades, the 2024 MT-09 is definitely worth a look."
