Unleash Your Inner Adventurer with the CFMOTO CL-X 700 Adventure!
Joining its siblings, the 700CL-X Heritage and 700CL-X Sport, the 700CL-X Adventure adopts the same chromoly chassis and engine, but has an extra 10mm of ground clearance, higher and closer-set handlebars, both STREET and OFF-ROAD riding modes, a thicker and flatter scrambler-style seat, and a fully adjustable 41mm KYB fork.
Like its brothers, the CFMOTO 700CL-X Adventure is powered by a 693cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC engine, said to be good for a claimed 74.8hp (55kW) at 8500rpm and 68Nm at 6500rpm. Other features include electronic cruise control, automatic LED lights, self-cancelling LED indicators, a T-box, an innovative system which can check vehicle status, positioning, and mileage, all in real-time through the CFMOTO RIDE smartphone application, and tubeless wire-spoked wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
What is it like to ride?
I have had the pleasure of riding the 700CL-X Adventure now for about a month. For the most part, it has been a daily commute from home to work and back again, approx 56km round trip. As a daily commute, this bike ticks all the boxes, light, agile and balanced with enough power to keep you out of trouble but also happy to cruise along at city speeds. With features such as cruise control and ABS, highway riding and twisties are both enjoyable and the 700CL-X Adventure completes this task with ease. The scrambler type seat looks great and offers plenty of comfort for longer trips and the bike comes with pannier racks (panniers sold separately) to take your luggage.
Today I got a chance to take the bike out to White Rock Mountain and experience roads less travelled. The great news is that the 700CL-X Adventure is as comfortable on gravel roads as it is on the bitumen. You can switch off the rear ABS in Off-Road mode by holding down the Off-Road mode button for a few seconds for a bit more fun. The handlebars provide a relaxed position and the ability for the rider to stand in the attack position when tackling these types of roads. The suspension handles the bumps with ease.
The CL-X is unlikely to be your top choice for tackling challenging off-road terrains. Instead, it embraces a cozy and composed demeanor, exuding an almost-retro aesthetic that will likely raise a smile on a dusty gravel trail but run out of ground clearance on anything more serious. The pipes are also a bit too exposed for challenging trails. If you are looking for something that can conquer all trails, look at the CFMOTO 800MT Explore for an all round adventure tourer.
