Finding a nail or screw in your motorcycle tyre is incredibly frustrating, to say the least. Yet don’t let this misfortunate ruin your ride!
Here’s how to repair and plug up a tubeless motorcycle tyre in minutes!
Equipment:
- Xtech Tyre Repair Kit
- Pliers
A repair kit that has saved my skin more than a few times, is the Xtech Tyre Repair Kit.
This is a fantastic all-in-one kit, that is extremely compact for bikes with limited luggage space. For peace of mind, I’ll often keep one under my rear seat compartment.
Just remember… Any puncher from a nail or screw can be patched using this repair technique and kit.

If your tyre has suffered a large gash from a chunk of metal or worse, unfortunately, this repair kit will not be able to get you home. Fingers crossed, you’ll have phone reception!
Step-By-Step Guide On Tyre Repair:
Step 1: Take 10 seconds to feel sorry for yourself, then find the puncher!
Step 2: Using a pair of pliers, work the nail/screw out of the tyre. The pliers are the only tool you’ll need that doesn’t come with the kit. We recommend keeping one packed within the kit itself.
Step 3: Using the Reamer from your repair kit, ream the punctured hole. It may seem like your damaging the tyre even more, however you’re actually cleaning out and enlarging the hole for the plug.

Keep reaming the hole, until you can slide the tool inside and out without too much resistance.
Step 4: Time to plug that hole! Thread the rubberised rope plug through your installation tool and squeeze a generous amount of glue on top.

Step 5: Ram the installation tool into the hole with a good amount of force. Push the rubberised rope plug and glue deep until you get roughly halfway through the tyre. Then quickly pull the tool out. The glue and rope will stay firmly inside the tyre with excess sticking out. View the photo below.

Step 6: Using the razor blade, simply cut away the excess rope and wait for the glue to dry. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.
Step 7: What makes this kit rather special is the 5 x 16g CO2 Cartridges also included! Your tyre will be deflated, so these cartridges are a lifesaver.
There you have it, a step-by-step guide on how to correctly plug and repair a tubeless motorcycle tyre.
It is important to remember that this is only a temporary fix. It’s recommended you come to us for a more lasting repair.
