That's right, the Austrian manufacturer has just dropped another flagship adventure bike - the 1290 Super Adventure R. This release was shortly after the announced revamping of their other highly appraised adventure model, the 1290 Super Adventure S. KTM has started the year strong, so what does the 1290 Super Adventure R offer?
An all new bodywork provides excellent control and agility. Now with a low-slung fuel tank, fully customisable rider settings in Rally Mode and an easier-to-access air filter, we can see that the new Super Adventure R is all about convenience and practicality. The lower mounted fuel tank is especially important, as it now holds fuel at a lower centre of gravity, allowing the bike to have better stability and agility on rougher terrains. A shorter frame, paired with a longer swingarm design continues to improve off-road handling.
The ergonomics have changed, now with a slightly lower seat height, well positioned footpegs and wide, comfortable handlebars. The new 3-part tank holds 23 liters of fuel, plenty for long distance adventure traveling.
Delivering 160hp at 9,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, the KTM Super Adventure R offers some of the best power to weight ratios in the segment. Packed with the latest electronic technology KTM has to offer, the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R features a new 6-axis Lean Angle Sensor, Traction Control, Motor Slip Regulation, Motorcycle Stability Control and forces of Off - Road ABS. It is pretty advanced, and allows riders to adjust and disengage the technology whenever it suits.
