What You Need To Know About The KTM 1290 Super Duke RR

With only 500 units set to be distributed globally, KTM’s 1290 Super Duke RR is a limited edition, powerhouse of a motorcycle. Here's what you need to know about the new 2021 Limited Edition Super Duke RR.

Starting with the power, the RR produces 180HP from its V-twin 1,301 engine. Paired with a maximum torque of 140Nm, this powerplant aims to impress all superbike enthusiasts. What makes this Super Duke stand out from the original 1290 Super Duke R, is the reduction of weight. Weighing at just 180 kgs it means the power to weight ratio is just 1:1. (Each horsepower from the engine just needs to push 1kg of weight)

To achieve this reduction, KTM has added in a lot of carbon fibre. The sub frame is completely made from the material, and weighs a light 850 grams. The triple clamp also uses lighter elements allowing for a savings of 350 grams and the wheels have been replaced with forged aluminium for a savings of 1.5 kg.

Adding in two new riding modes, Track and Performance, the new Super Duke RR has seen an improvement in electronics.

  • Adjust Rear-Wheel Slip
  • Launch Control
  • Throttle Response
  • Cornering ABS
  • Motor Slip Regulation

Riding on  Michelin Power Cup 2 tires wrapped in matte black alloy wheels, the Super Duke RR keeps the iconic aggressive-looking naked design. A sharp fuel tank, sweeps into the back end of the bike, which is just stunning. The LTM design team have really outdone themselves!
