Yamaha's All-New YZF-R7 - Latest R Series Model

Yamaha has finally revealed the highly speculated YZF-R7, the latest model in Yamaha’s supersport segment. Embodying the rich history and aggressive styling of the R-Series, the all-new R7 features Yamaha’s, now iconic, CP2 engine, and a sleek ultra-thin lightweight chassis for performance.

Bridging the power gap between Yamaha’s beginner YZF-R3 and the track-focused YZF-R1M, the new middleweight R7 combines the aggressive styling and ergonomics of a supersport, yet is powered by the more street-friendly 689/655cc CP2 engine. Performance figures have not been officially released, yet it's safe to assume the new R7 will be putting out similar figures to that of the MT-07, which is 73.4hp and 67Nm.

Also similar to the MT-07, Yamaha has revealed that the YZF-R7 will come in a learner-approved 655cc LA model and a 689cc full power (or ‘High Output’) version. It’s great news for beginner riders, wanting to experience that supersport lifestyle with a manageable power plant.

Some notable key features about the R7 would be the KYB suspension front and rear, the ultra-narrow chassis for improved agility, and Brembo braking. The cockpit of the bike will also be greeted with a new LCD instrument panel and full LED lighting.

Scheduled to be available in Yamaha dealerships, December 2021, both models will be available in Team Yamaha Blue or Performance Black colour schemes. A quick-shifter is an aftermarket option for the HO model, for seamless upshifts.
